FAQ about Accessible Info
Updated: Feb 17
The Rally at the Capitol is Saturday, January 18, 2020 from noon - 3pm on the South Steps. We encourage everyone to arrive early (around 11am), bring water and snacks (food is not allowed to be sold on Capitol grounds) and get ready to rally the vote!
The rally is open to everyone. Here are some FAQs about Capitol Accessibility.
Where is the accessible parking at the Capitol?
Street parking is limited and competitive. Vehicles properly displaying on official disabled parking placard or disabled parking license may park at parking meters in the Capitol Complex for free at any time. Parking in the Visitor Parking Garage is recommended (1201 San Jacinto Blvd., Austin, TX 78701).
Is there a spot for the disabled or elderly to sit at the rally?
Yes. There is a roped off section near the front of the stage for those with physical disabilities (wheelchairs, walkers, crutches, deaf). Space is very limited. Regular seating is not available. Please see site map below.
Are there wheelchair accessible (WCA) bathrooms?
Yes. Public restrooms are inside the Capitol, which may be entered from the North side. We will also have wheel chair accessible potties set up at the West side near 12th/Colorado.
Will there be ASL volunteers?
Yes. ASL volunteers will be standing near the speakers.
